For the first time, a ship carrying imported cargo from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has docked in an Israeli port on Monday, said a statement issued by Haifa Port in northern Israel.
The cargo unloaded off the ship MSC Paris at Haifa included iron, as well as firefighting, cleaning and electronic equipment.
From now on, the ship will bring cargo from the UAE to Israel on a weekly basis, according to the port.
Israel and the UAE agreed to formally normalize their relations in mid-August and signed a normalization agreement at the White House on Sept. 15.
The government-owned Haifa Port is the largest port in Israel. Besides the millions of tons of cargo, the port is also visited each year by dozens of tourist cruise ships.
