Damen ASD Tug 3212 Svitzer Glenrock Delivered to Svitzer Australia

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered an ASD Tug 3212 as the second part of a two-vessel order placed by Svitzer Australia. Named the Svitzer Glenrock, the tug arrived at Newcastle, NSW, on its own keel from Damen Song Cam Shipyard, Vietnam. There it will work in the world’s busiest coal port, handling Cape-class bulk carriers and petroleum tankers as they enter and leave the confines of the harbour.

Transas to Promote Fleet Efficiency for Wilson Ship Management

Transas, a Wärtsilä company, has signed a landmark contract to supply a Fleet Operations Solution (FOS) to Wilson ASA, the Norway-based fleet operator. The FOS creates an infrastructure that includes onboard navigational and communication components to provide enhanced connectivity for business communications and crew services, and access to fleet data from shore-based locations for complete situational awareness. The order was booked in Q1, 2018.

Canada Acts on Icebreaker Shortage

The Government of Canada has moved to acquire additional icebreaking vessels to supplement its existing fleet of aging icebreakers. Three icebreaking anchor handling tug supply vessels are anticipated to be repurposed by Davie Shipbuilding in preparation for joining the existing Coast Guard fleet for the 2018-2019 ice season.

Japan’s First LNG Bunkering Vessel to Start Operation in 2020

Central LNG Shipping Japan Corporation (Hereinafter: CLS), a joint venture established by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd., Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, announces that CLS has ordered an LNG Bunkering Vessel (Hereinafter: LBV) from Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.. The LBV, which is scheduled to be delivered around September to December 2020, will become the first to be operated in Japan.
