
Rawan Al-Faqir, the First Secretary at the Embassy of Jordan in the UK, was awarded the 2023 Young Diplomat of the Year award at the 2023 DIPLOMAT magazine annual award ceremony.
The ceremony took place at the Royal Over-Seas League in St James’s, London.
Faqir’s diplomatic career and achievement
Faqir, who is currently President of the Young Diplomats in London, has been a career diplomat since 2013.
She has held various roles at the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including a desk officer of the US in the North American Department, and worked directly with the Ministry Spokesperson.
Moreover, she was awarded the Chevening Scholarship, the UK government’s international scholarships, and fellowships program funded by the FCDO.
In 2020, she completed a Master of Studies (MST) in Diplomatic Studies from The University of Oxford. Faqir also holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the Hashemite University in Jordan.
Trilingual diplomat
Faqir is trilingual, with Arabic being her mother language, and she is also fluent in English and Hebrew. Furthermore, since August 2021, she has been serving as an Alternate Representative of Jordan to The International Maritime Organization.
